is anyone else on here as disgusted as i am that right after halloween we are assaulted with an unending barrage of television commercials advertising christmas this and christmas that?.

when i was a kid, it was unthinkable to advertise anything about christmas before thanksgiving.. nowadays, these smiley-faced rosy-cheeked actors are hawking their christmas wares to the point where it has become nauseating!

it's easy to read between the lines -- what they're really saying is: (on their knees with hands clasped) "please, please buy our products!

Hey, retailer's business models have been falling off for years, as Christmas has come to represent less and less of their revenue - in this economy, there are a lot of panicking retailers who can't keep their fingers off of the trigger. I've actually read articles that indicate that advertising before Thanksgiving is dropping off from past years, and I hope that trend continues.

Many think that Jesus turned the water into wine... but thanks to this New Drinker's Translation of the Scriptures, we see that Jesus actually turned it into beer - specifically, Mcmenamin's Terminator Stout. The attendees at the wedding feast were used to getting Coors Light at the end of the reception, and so were surprised at the quality of what was being served.

Not sure which of us is the biggest loser, going back and forth about this on a Friday night...but I'm pretty sure it's you.

How does a church provide "fellowship" with anonymous church members? Aside from using the name Jehovah, what do you provide for XJW's? You seem to use many terms from mainstream Christianity - and you fail to discuss doctrine at all on your site.

If you think that simply inviting XJW's will get many people streaming in to swallow recycled mainstream Protestant dogma, you have a surprise in store.

hi to all who defended me on that other board.. i came home today to nine pm's, all defending me from the personal attacks on me, on another board.

i am still in shock, but i do appreciate the words of those who defended me.. one gal called me and told me she had five phone calls from others expressing shock over the way i was being maligned on the other board.. i am fine, and dealing with it.

i guess we all need to expect to be criticized.

It should be pointed out that one side effect of "signing up over there to stick up for someone" is that their goal of attracting more posters is acheived.

It's a cynical way to attract people - give them a reason to defend someone like Mulan, and thus inflate the statistics.

Since anyone attacking someone like Mulan is obviously not someone whose opinions carry any weight, I would suggest caution before riding for vengeance.
